Aleksandr Brazhnyk

In Vanemuine Theatre since 2021.

Aleksandr Brazhnyk works as a conductor at the Vanemuine Theatre since autumn 2024. From 2021 to 2024, he was the head chorus master of the Vanemuine Opera Choir. He graduated from the L. Revutsky Chernihiv Music School with a degree in choral conducting (2003) and furthered his studies in choral conducting and vocal pedagogy at the P. Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine (2003–2008). In 2020, he earned a master’s degree in orchestral conducting under the guidance of Paul Mägi at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. Brazhnyk has participated in masterclasses with Luigi Gaggero, Jorma Panula, Arvo Volmer, Paul Mägi, Olari Elts, Toomas Kapten, Jüri Alperten, Pablo Marques Mestre, and Oksana Lyniv.

He has served as a chorus master for the P. Maiboroda Academic Choir at Ukrainian Radio (2009–2010) and as conductor and head chorus master of the Ukrainian Academic Folklore-Ethnographic Ensemble “Kalina” (2010–2014). Additionally, he was a choir artist at the Estonian National Opera (2014–2021), where he performed the role of Sid in Puccini’s opera “La fanciulla del West” under the direction of José Cura. At the Vanemuine Theatre, Brazhnyk has conducted Kaumann’s opera “The Mall” (2022) and Tchaikovsky’s ballet “The Nutcracker” (2022). He also served as an assistant conductor for Wagner’s opera “Tristan and Isolde” (2022) and conducted the Vanemuine Symphony Orchestra’s Advent concert in 2023.
