This year, the Film Music Gala, initiated in 2023 in the spirit of the Memory concert series, focuses on the best of Estonian film music. Although the history of cinema begins with silent films, this concert does not start in silence. The sonic world of film is brought to life by Vanemuine’s choirmaster and the concert’s conductor, Martin Sildos. The programme also highlights several key technological milestones in film history, including the advent of the first sound film, the first colour feature film, and the first motion picture created for widescreen presentation. The concert features film music by some of the most significant composers in the field, including Uno Naissoo, Veljo Tormis, Ülo Vinter, Sven Grünberg, Rein Rannap, Olav Ehala, Anne Maasik, and others.
