A theatre festival at the Vanemuine from 17-19 May 2018
The FREEDOM FESTIVAL will be taking place in 2018 – the year in which the Republic of Estonia celebrates its 100th anniversary. Many other European countries are marking the same anniversary.
As such, the Vanemuine is inviting theatres from countries that enjoy friendly relations with Estonia to visit the country so as to discuss the concept of freedom via the medium of theatre: winning, losing and finding freedom again; the power and fragility of freedom; the freedom of the state and the individual; inner freedom; and freedom of thought.
The programme for the festival includes three productions from abroad and two staged by the Vanemuine itself.
The FREEDOM FESTIVAL will be a springtime party for free (and free-thinking) people in Tartu.
