Metamorphoses
A collection of three short ballets
The ballet evening brings together the different worldviews of three talented choreographers
Are we here and now by our own choice or is it predestined? Why are we all so different? Are we even free in our choices? Have the questions that weigh on us today accompanied mankind since the dawn of time or do they constantly change? One thing is certain: a human being’s inquisitive soul does not get tired of asking eternal questions even in the increasingly discordant world of today.
The ballet evening Metamorphoses brings together the different worldviews of three talented choreographers. It is like visiting an exhibition where we can see pop art on one floor, modern art on the second and classical art on the third. It is up to the viewers to decide which one they prefer.
The young choreographers looking for answers through their unique body language are Jack Traylen, winner of the young choreographers’ competition of the Vanemuine Theatre in 2018; Matthew James Jordan, inspired by step dance; and Jevgeni Grib, winner of several Estonian theatre awards.

We are all born into this world as special and unique. But when do we learn to assimilate and be like others? Why do we blend in and what brings this change about? Is it because of our own fear or indifference, the opinions of others or the impacts of society? Tiny claws burrowing under our skin, gradually molding us into each others’ clones…
